Brevan Howard, a traditional finance giant, has recently made a significant addition to its digital assets arm. The firm has welcomed Kevin Hu from Dragonfly Capital as its new digital portfolio manager.
Hu will be based in Brevan Howard’s new Abu Dhabi office and will report to BH Digital CEO Gautam Sharma. He will join the firm with a wealth of experience, having spent three years as an associate at BlackRock with the Alternative Investment Group and two years as a general partner and head of liquid strategy at Dragonfly Capital.
Brevan Howard Digital was established in September 2021 to provide institutional investors access to blockchain-related investment opportunities. As of July, Brevan Howard had $25 billion in assets under management and is aiming to raise at least $1 billion for its crypto hedge fund. According to Bloomberg, the fund has performed well despite the recent market volatility, recording only a 5% loss.
The addition of Hu to the team is part of a wave of senior hires for Brevan Howard Digital, as the firm looks to diversify its investments. With the growing interest in digital assets, Hu’s extensive knowledge and experience will be a great asset to the team.
As the firm continues to expand its digital assets arm, Brevan Howard is in a strong position to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the blockchain sector. Hu’s appointment is an important step in the growth of the firm’s digital investments, and is a sign that the traditional finance giant is being proactive in adapting to the changing landscape.
